Wheres it gone?

We seem to have Kiss FM now, playing non-stop music (think it starts "properly" on wednesday from what it was saying), and a bit of a crappy signal

I dont mind, the musics better

But whats the crack? Used to listen to Vibe as its way better music than Radio1, but put it on earlier and its just gone, didnt hear any warnings that its going.

Or has it changed frequencys and Kiss has taken over 101?

 

Was still vibe on 101FM recently when i was listening ot the radio last in that area

Well the RDS was vibe even early this morning, but was playing non stop music, no DJs, no ads, just music constantly mixed in together, nowt like Vibe, but in a good way.

Yea, same as, im sure on Friday i had Vibe on and they was chatting away as usual.

But this morning it was non stop music from Kiss all mixed in to each other, and now n again it said "you are listening to test tunes from kiss, we're just finising building the studio, it starts wednesday" or words to that effect.

Vibe FM was still what the radio was showing, but within an hour or so that changed to Kiss FM.

So wheres Vibe gone? Was way better than Radio1.

Not that bothered as Kiss is even better still, but hey

E-Map group, the company that owns Kiss FM (they also own Saga Radio ne. the old Melody FM) have purchased Vibe and are re-branding them as KISS FM, so as to reach a bigger audience than just London.

 

Wierd how there was no warning at all.

It was always KISS before it went to Vibe.

Thats newport/swansea anyway.

 

And remember about 5 years back Bristol's Galaxy FM also just dissapeared and became Vibe overnight when GWR Group bought/re-branded them.............

Galaxy 101 was sold to GWR Group and Scottish Radio Holdings in 2002 and rebranded Vibe 101, but this purchase was subsequently vetoed by the Competition Commission over concerns regarding control of the Bristol radio advertising markek...................

Vibe 101 (currently broadcasting as Vibe FM) will be relaunched as Kiss 101 on 6th September 2006 as Emap integrates the stations.

Vibe 105-108 FM will also be rebranded as Kiss on the same date, and these changes will be implemented simultaneously with a major relaunch of Kiss 100, in which all three stations will receive the new Kiss logo and the revised Kiss format.

Emap recently gained clearance from the UK communications regulator Ofcom to network programming between Vibe 101, Vibe 105-108 and Kiss 100.

Emap have also pledged to significantly increase the amount of specialist programming on the two Vibe stations, with the minumum weekly amount of specialist output stated on the Vibe licences more than doubling from 16 to 36 hours.

Id rather hear to non-stop music like it was this morning than father tosspiece the sticky vicar or whatever the fuck hes called that they usually have on Vibe in the morning

 

I noticed this too the other day, except for some reason Ive always been able to pick up the station in SW Birmingham, north bromsgrove, despite it being a bristol and S.W station

 

Yep, I get that, from about Worcester up to S.Brum you can get it, even tho it loses its signal totally from Gloucester till just before Worcester so cant get it where I live

Dance, HipHop, n RnB, exactly what Vibe ever was anyhow, just less pop I reckon.
The non stop music they was playing early was 65% dance (allsorts, garage, dnb, trance gayness, allsorts), 25% hiphop, and 10% RnB.
Almost all the HipHop n RnB was remixed into dance anyhow.

They not replacing Radio2 with Kiss or anything

 

....and probally more adverts

 

Vibe over this way has gone to Kiss transmissions as well.

But compared to Kiss, Vibe Fm ROCKED!! Used to listen to it when i was working in Stansted.

Proper old skool dance, trance, garage etc....... Not one bad tune. Now Kiss on the otherhand

Was poppy as fuck, no student or greebo music at least, but mainly the commercial dance/hiphop/rnb youd hear everywhere

Miles better than gaydio1 tho.

 

Yeah i really couldn't fault it, especially on the night shifts.

thats truely a bad one for you vide listener, as kiss is proper crap these day, well has been for years now, recently losing kisstory on a sunday night adds every 15mins

still being around east london / essex, theres loads of quality pirates on all the time, so no need for the comercial crap anyways

shame it seems to be loosing its locality.

i used to listen to it when it was galaxy 101 with kam and sally in the morning ! a lot has happened since then but was good when darren daley and reece (the sticKer vikka) came across from my other next favourite station (rdfm!). shame thats all about to finish. isnt the stikka vikka gonna stay on ? heard rumours of the good big welsh lad doing the weekend breakfast on kiss ?

 

does anyone know the frequency for any good pirate stations in essex at mo,coz since lush disapeared, i cant find any. pm us if u dont wana post up and get them caught lol
