Mate PhilC on Interford had one, sure you'll get some help over on either www.interford.co.uk or www.xrstyle.co.uk

I had one!

Janspeed Turbo 3door cossie replica!

Dont know if was same as yours, mine had 7th injector, BIG turbo with HUUUUUGE exhaust housing (Janspeed printed onto exhaust housing elbow), external wastegate, big front mounted intercooler, allsorts.

Would be very interested in hearing any info, esp if mine was a "normal" janspeed turbo conversion.

Nope, through Interford I'm afraid mate. I have his mobile no., but not dishing it out I'm afraid!
I'll ask him what details he has next time I see him.
He lives in Rugby and broke the Janspeed for bits (he sold the engine complete for £600 ish)

Thats exactly the one!!

I bought the Xr4x4 and put the engine in a 4i,

The bloody bottom ends hanging out now though

Need to know if the bottom end is much different from standard mainly, I have heard from a few sources its the same as a standard bottom end, but I just don't believe it!!!

I was told the one i got was low comp and had head work, but no way to confirm, i didnt care, swapped it (was mint and all genuine cossie kit n interior) for a fucked 205GTI that wasnt worth 100quid, lol.

I sold it (well half of it, sold a lot of the interior + kit) to a bloke from swindon who reckoned he was gona put the engine in a XR4x4 he had, and put a Small Turbo Esc Cossie engine he had in the 3door, no idea if he ever did...

what do you need to know mate, i post on here as well
its standard bottom engine all round mate, nothing uprated.

itsmeagain, that sounds like a standard janspeed set up, fairly large(in comparision to the tt kits)rotomaster rm60 turbo running 7psi as standard.

rotormaster? was deffo a garrett compressor (not that big), with an exhaust housing far bigger than a RS500 T4 one (and ext wastegate of course).

Wastegate was right down by the OSF wheel.

rotomaster later became garrett

what do you wanna know? they did 2 single turbo versions one for a stand comp engine making 210bhp and one on a low comp engine making 260bhp.

they use micro dynamics ecu's for the ignition and extra injector I had a capri kit for a while that was destin for the 4i, decided i didn't wanna mod the shell so sold it to a guy with a 280 brooklands.

Yup, Micro Dynamics managment type stuff, used to proper confuse me that shit did.

Comp wheel DEFFO said Garrett on it...

Maybe it was the 260bhp one i had, fook knows.

Remember the wastegate was quite shiney with a red circle around the edge of the top, VERY similar in looks ot the turbonetics deltagate actually...

Yikes!

Well, the engine i have looks to be just running on the standard k-jet. It don't seem to have an ECU as such anywhere??

Basically I am hoping its the lower specced one, as i can just change the block over!!!

There is what looks like a pressure switch in the plenum though, this is not wired up to anything though, maybe it's been changed at some point. How can i tell the difference between the different conversions.

Mine definitely has an external wastegate, on a 'massive' turbo! Think mine is a rotomaster!!

it should have an pic 5 7th injector driver and also an em6 boost retard unit. if you need a boost retard unit pm me i have one spare.
should be fine running a standard bottom end if you limit the boost.

I see, damn!

7th injector driver, would that be the cold start injector?

What does the boost retard unit look like?!

the 7th injector sits on the elbow coming of the plenum chamber, its an efi injector.

the boost retard unit is a micro dynamics em6 unit. small balck box with a dial on it and 4 wires i think. i think it connects up to the switch in the side of the plenum. cant rememeber, its been a while!!

My external wastegate was behind passenger front wheel, literally less than 4 inches from the floor!

Was that the standard setup too?

I see, that is definately missing on mine,

So how does the injector know when to fire, does the em6 unit control that too?

Sorry for all the questions!
