Default Whats the next step for more BHp!

Hi people, just asking around for advice on the next step to wring some more power out of my S2 ERST. I have had the engine fully rebuilt and a fully recone stage one turbo unit fitted. When i had it set up it made just under 150bhp on the rollers, although it gos like a scolded cat i now need more. What would be the next mod? cam, chip ect??? any advice would be appreciated.

A good std engine will do 150 @ fly.

World is your oyster really. A good intercooler will see u past 200hp.

First thing to do mate is get some better brakes ! No point in giving the car more power if it can't stop ! As far as tuning goes, a chip and actuator is the first thing. That'll see 180 and will transform the car. Depending on your budget then a K&N, better flowing exhaust and either a larger intercooler or a chargecooler (all in that order). If you did fit that little lot and had the car set up properly you're then over 200 horses - easily.

But, alas, then you need to bear in mind that an uprated clutch will be on the shopping list along with tyres, possible gearbox rebuild...............

Bit of advice - don't be so concerned with 'what bhp will I get'. That's pub talk bullshit and in 99% of cases only any good for saying to your mates 'my cars got more bhp than you - 'innit.........' torque is what makes the car more driveable and quicker in the real world

Rick, thats 20bhp up a standard engine? I was under the impression a good std engine will give you. . . 132bhp? maybe 5bhp more give or take. . but 20hp more?

I'd go for:
mongoose/magnex exhaust (scorpions have been proven to be restrictive although some cant/wont believe it) chip (MSD/NMS etc) -31 actuator, modified standard airbox with K&N panel filter (cut the front off where the small circular hole is) cone filters suck in too much hot air believe it or not. cam. . newmans. . and a FMIC (GRS/PRO Alloy) coupled with your stg1 turbo and a good setup you should be producing some good power their

10psi boost and optimised ignition and fueling. Rick meant mechanically standard.

Not going to attempt to give any advice because i have no idea, just curious about clutches? 180 - 210 bhp. what sort of clutches are avalible. as i dont want a track style on/off clutch but obviously standard clutch couldn't handle the torque going through it. so what options are there?

256bhp says your talking bolllocks mate. Older Scorpion exhausts may have had issues but the current ones certainly don't

500 chocolate chip cookies say its fact.

Maybe you'd make more power with a less-restrictive exhaust? (assuming you have the old one)

older scorpions DO have a restrictive backbox, Ive heard the new ones dont, but then ive heard people saying the old ones aint restrictive!!

The proof is in the pudding

Not a very scientific picture you'll agree, but it does give you an idea.

std system 2.5" from turbo - tailpipe
scorpion system - 2.5" from turbo - backbox where it goes into 2" inside the box then to whatever size of tailpipe you have.
mongoose - 2.5" from turbo -backbox-to whatever size your tailpipe is.

go check, like I say I cant speak for "new" scorpions as ive never saw one!!
