Just checked my emails and here is my reply from Bernie:
The best options are a Quaife ATB at £685.00+vat or an R&D plate diff at around £1200.00, 400bhp is really pushing a standard uprated diff and we would definitely expect it to fail at some point.
some saving to be done
If I dont lauch my car and just enjoy the midrange etc, will the std diff last?
also what other options r there compared to above, and how much?

I ragged tha bsolute tits off my old diff!
Over 60 runs at the pod, six track days (two on slicks) and it never gave up.
I did try my hardest, ands it was whining like my missus, but uprated is the way forward.

ive had this conversion in my car for over 4 years now

Matt,
markk, which bits of the std transmission needs to be supplied when you switch from std to a plated gripper? cwp etc?

after that - away ya go - fookin dogs bollox of a diff , i ran the small unit (7" ) in a 2wd with approx 350ftlb of torque on several tarmac rallies with large slix (of course
it took me over 12 months to find another suitable unit that i could use the ratio on i wanted , in the end i came a cross the jag conversion ( was approx 8 year old then
) but was in need of a bit of fettling then hey hey !! fookin big diffs !! then before you know it - everyfookers got one !!! but theres one thing to say about that - if youve got a good thing everyone will want one - if its a bad thing then your on your own with it
i would have had another gripper but i couldnt get the cwp's for the ratio i wanted in the sierra diff !! now i have a few diffs with differant ratio's !!

as for the proper cwp - he will mean its prob been peened and polished
sound, cheers mark
next....
ratio's
i dont wish to change from a std 3.64 final drive, i take it this isnt such a problem to source? was your problem that you wanted a shorter ratio for acceleration? e.g. a 4.4 or such

got it in one m8!!
i needed a 5.1:1
then a 4.44: , a 4.27:! and a 3.77:1 - all of which i have now !!
all i can recommend m8 is try and find the lowest mileage cwp you can , have it x-rayed , shot peened (stress relieved ) and polished !!
and you should have no problems !!
try and stay away from cossie cwps as most of them WILL have been ragged !! look into the other models
