Default Car making a weird noise.

I seem to post a lot of problems up, but just as I want it minty mint. Car seems to make a whiney low rumble at 2k, never done it before, so thinking its the gearbox as the noise stops when u press the clutch. Any other ideas or is it a new gearbox time? if so Escort rs turbo ones go straight on yeah?

Could be clutch release bearing???

Our old S2 used to do that.

If it goes when the clutch is pressed then its got to be gearbox/clutch really...

I'll ask Matt later see what he thinks

As sassy says if the noise goes if the clutch is pressed in then this diffinatly the clutch release bearing, so you May as well go fora paddle clutch and S2 box whilst you in there.

Didn't think it would be the gearbox really, the gears still pull fine.

Its got a paddle clutch at the moment.

sound like a relise bearing but it could be a main shaft bearing, common prob tbh.

if it is your lucky, mine never gave any warning till it broke up on me and chewed the shit out of the main shaft.

still that was about 6 years ago now
