problem

i have a xr2i 1.8 16v zetec and when im in 5th it stops at 5500rpm what could be the cause??

Cant help you with the answer but my 1.6 zetec stops at about that. When i had a different exhaust on it let it go a little bit further...

My old one only used to get up to about that aswell. Showed 135mph on the speedo if that helps (on a private road)

It doesn't have enough grunt o pull it further at a guess. If it's standard I'm surprised it got there to be honest
