Hi,
I have just bought a red 1.8 16v XR2I on a 'K' plate '92. It currently has the wrong alloys, black wing mirrors and spoiler, no badges or decals and green fillet in the front and rear bumpers with no bump strips running up either side of the car.
Could somebody please help me out as I am looking to return the car to original spec. Much appreciated, cheers

The K plate XR2i's never had the bump strips down the sides of the car anyway

 

Here are some pics, sorry about the wait, first time for me to use the site and had to figure out how to get pics up.

 

16v cars didn't have the side strips and iirc the bumper inserts were black rather than coloured like on the 8v cars.

I'm pretty sure not all the 16v cars came with coloured wing mirrors. Black spoiler is the correct one for the car (85% sure).

Also, I've been told that the rims are off an RS1800, is this right ?
Could I just take the green fillet out of the bumpers?
Do you know wot rims should b on it?

 

The wing mirrors look standard to me as my old K plate had those. The rims look like RS1800 alloys, the spoiler should be red and i'm sure the door handles should be too

 

As far as i'm aware, these are the wheels that should be on it (or similar looking ones)

 

The wheels Phil DJ has shown are spot on, the wing mirrors are the later type (MK3.5).
There should be no strips in the bumpers or down the side of the car.
The rear spoiler should be un-painted.
My advice to you is if you do remove the bumper strips be very carefull & use a lot of hot water & some fishing line as you could make some money back on these if they are not damaged & reuseable.
You can sell them on as they are now very hard to get hold of as Ford no longer make them.

Those wing mirrors that are on the car are definately earl type coz i have mk 3.5 mirrors on mine and they are much smaller and rounder

 

The oval repeaters should also be square ones

 

Does anybody know for a set of 5 spokes, like the ones in Phil DJ's pic? If you do let me know condition and location, Cheers
