Default Will a mk4 door fit my Mk3???

Think they are both the same externally, just the internal part thats diffrent. anyone done this before? What would i need to change for the series 1 trim, locking motors and electric window components to fit??

yes, but the inside handles are in slightly different places, you'll need to make a bracket to hold the mk3 handle forward around an inch!

Also, the hole for the lock on the outer skin is larger on mk4.

Thanks Guys , i'd seen a Genuine Ford Mk4 door on EBay (passenger- NEW old stock) but i've decided against it. Its collection only, Essex way if anyones interested, think its got a buy it now price - ideal for resto i guess. .

Ive heard many people say the outside hole is bigger for a MK4 lock but my cabriolet has a later door on it with the conversion plate for the interior handle and the original external lock fits...............

I think when you buy them from Ford, because they only make one door for both MK3 & 4's they supply a little ford embossed screw in bracket for MK3 handles.

I have no idea? All i know is the door on mine has been replaced before i bought it.
