Was this the Scoob that was for sale when I posted about WRXs and engine reliability was discussed?

Think I might steer clear of em

Good luck with sorting it though

my mates scoob done two engines in in as many months first time it cost him 2.8k and the second time was done under the warranty with the first work. after that he traded it in and got a newer one. and guess what, the big ends when on that one aswell, luckily enough under warranty.

I was always told that those RA's are brilliant fun but without warning the bottom ends can just let go. Is this whats happened to yours?

You have had some serious found out of it tho

Goodluck with the rebuild or engine swap

No thats not bad considering its regularly getting track time. Seemed to be going fine on the circuit today, did it give you no indication of its imminent death?

David at API would be a good guy to see to your motor,More than likely it will be your Big ends and about £1800 depending on what the damage is.

Lots of people say "Chocolate engines" but as you pointed out, they last as long as Cossie in most instances (except for P1's)Which you could argue are a bit more fragile than most scoobs.

Alex, i genuine short engine is not to bad, about £1400, its all the gaskets & stuff that add up.
The classic scoobs are common for knocking big ends, normally number 3.

They aint my cup of tea mate and I make no secret of that but I certainly wouldn't take the piss in this situation. I know how gutting it is (and how expensive) without somebody taking the piss to make matters worse.

Straight up mate best of luck sorting it

Well when you start to add it all up matey, it wont be far away.
But that does depend on wether you will be doing the work yourself, short engine and so on.

Do a search on scoobynet and see for your self,as frightening as it may seem £1800 is about the figue you will pay some one to do it for you.
