£488.00 for Evo VIII slightly modded, with Cat 1 alarm and Tracker. Full NCD. Would have been £445.00 without Andy being a named driver.

I do believe that VIs cost more to insure than VII or VIIIs.

My VII is about 500quid give or take 20quid. I am 25 with full no claims and agreed value 15K pounds. Agree with Redkop, VI's are more expensive to insure here also.

I have a carbon engine cover listed for mods but am able to do quite a lot without it increasing the premium due to the insurer being motorsport orientated.

8 yrs no claims bonus, no accidents, no points, no claims, £900 fully comp with ALL mods declared (uk tme)

Could have got it cheaper but i rate the company im insured with & they dont mess about in the event of paying out for a claim.

I have got a '53 plate VIII GSR with a few mods, like HKS 4½" exhaust with Magnex downpipe, uprated fuel pump, braided brake hoses and Denso plugs, so it's got about 300-305bhp. Take a look on MLR at the MODEL INFO

I love the car, it's very easy to drive and having 6 gears it's pretty economical on fuel, going to TOTB I got 290 miles from a full tank [55 litres] which equates to 26.67mpg.

It really depends what your wife wants to do with the car, if she wants it as an every day car, the GSR or an FQ300 would be ideal or even an VIII 260 [UK car]. The GSR is the direct Jap import, 280 BHP.... FQs are GSRs that Mitsi have converted for the UK market. Things like a different exhaust, hard pipe kit etc being fitted for the FQ 300.

I wanted a pretty standard car when I bought mine, as I had the Escos for a power hype but since owning the Evo for 6 mths now and not realising I would like it as much as I do, I am faced with a dilemma, after Nat Day I am 99.9% sure I will be selling the cossie, but I am not sure whether to sell / p/ex the Evo for either an VIII FQMR 340 or a IX MR340 or keep the one I have and get it modded to 360+ bhp and get a big brake kit. All that is needed to get it to this power is a boost controller and an EcuTEK reflash, as I have the other mods already that's needed..... and the price to get it to 360+ is only £800

I think the 6's look to dated...

I went for a 7 as i'm not so keen on the rounded front end's on the 8! Mine is the latest 7 i've seen been on a 53 plate....

Best car i've owned!

You will get a good low mileage VIII FQ easily for that. Tracker isn't standard, luckily mine already had it and a Clifford alarm.

Paul My dilemma too.

Paul My dilemma too.
The car in my sig is an 8 with 9 front and rear bumpers. I saw an 8 in extreme with the same for about £22k. I like the 9's rear venturi like bumper although I doubt it does a huge amount.

You can get an 8 for sub £20k and then spend a bit on big brakes etc

escort cossie is my favorite car ever mate but i spent so much money on the one i had i had to sell it....i always promiced myself to get aother one then i drove my mates evo then that was it they are gr8...the 6 only holds just over £30 of fuel tho so if you want to go any where far your in trouble i went to rail got 70 miles into the journey &couldnt find super unleaded or optimax & had to put normal uleaded in which resulted in a slow drive home & everyboady was blasting past..

We had an Evo 8 fq300 about 10 month ago. It was in the wifes name with her insuring it and it was about £640 from Bell insurance. She too has full no claims and is 31

My Evo is far better on fuel consumption than my cossie by a long way.

When we went to TOTB I got 289.3 miles to the 55 litre tank, that equalled 26.7mpg. I get nowhere near that in the escos.

Not to bad on the later models Carlo.

Motorway cruising between 3000 & 4000 rpm in 6th returns around 27mpg.
