I've been quoted £600 for my engine to be rebuilt. I have every thing it needs so that price is purely for labour question is, is this a fair price as i haven't got a clue

just a small performance garage in the area he normally works on rx7s and most other jap cars. Not much choice of engine builders round here to be honest i've hered bad things about most of them tbh and he seams clued up
Very reasonable price but as mentioned you need to get it to a cossie tuner ASAP if ur jap man cant do it.
I got my local garage to fit my engine and had a manner of problems, i took it back and they shook their shoulders

What machine work does that include?
Or has the machining already been done and measured?
If its litteraly just to bolt one together with no machinging or measuring you may as well do it yourself cause thats the easy bit and can be done in a couple of hours!

I think you should ask him what it actually involves, i would hope he will be measuring things like the piston to bore clerance and ring gaps, and acurately measuring the CR for you to tell your mapper, and checking the journal sizes etc.
If its just bolting it together, its actually something anyone vauguely competent with a torque wrench can do!
