Default Dodgy 3dr?

Hey, dont often post on this site but browse the forums quite often!

A while back while my mate was looking for a P/x for his Frst we bumped into what looked like a Mint 3dr in a garage in chesham (bucks). On closer inspection we realise the car is on a J plate and ask the garage owner whats the deal.

He claims that the car was built for the police to use as a high speed pursuit vehicle!? ( surely thaey would use a Saph!)

Any way his story sounded a bit dodgy but naturally we ask if it is for sale and he says no and that hes gonna keep it and let it appreciate in value bla bla bla bla.

Just browsing autotrader as i usually do and found the same 3dr on there for sale at £18,995!!!!!!!

EDITED BY POPEYE: DUDE YOU HAVE LEFT YOUR POST CODE ON THE LINK MATE,PEEPS CAN FIND OUT WHERE YOU LIVE BY DOING THAT

BOTTOM OF PAGE

Just wondering if anyone knows about this particular car or if the police ever used 3dr's as pursuit cars (something smells a bit fishy!)

Cheers

I do remember of a special order for a white 3dr which went on a j plate dont know if it was for the police or not but if its the same car than it is genuine and worth a lot of money.

I thought it was J43 BLE although its hard to tell!

I might pop down there and see if i can get the reg plate tommorrow.

It may be perfectley legit but i just got that feeling you get sometimes, when talking to the guy at the garage!

Incedently i have since been to look at another couple of cars there ( fiesta si, S1 rst and a mk3 golf 16v) all of which were well overpriced and the si had no oil in it at all!

Tremorz

P.s is there any reason why my post seems to be about 2ft wide?????

i saw this car about a year ago, at the time it looked ropey.
the trim was knackered, there were bits of wiring hanging out everwhere,
under the bonnet looked crap aswell.
the guy told us the X-police story aswell, reckons there were 3 'J' plate
ones made for traffic cops, 1 was written off & no one knew what happened
to the third.
i spoke to another car dealer in Chalfont, who reckons the 3 door was built out of bits in '91. it was a new shell, but doe's not have a floor number???
18k for it
get real, you could get a good RS500 for that. Y2KRS only wanted about 13k
for his & it was a 51plate i belive & it was minter than mint.

Same here. I wne to this dealers to look at a "Mint" condition S1, noly to find out it had more holes than a nudist beach

Had a look round the J reg 3dr, and as above I thought it was tatty and in general need of a VERY good tidy up and probably a good deal of money on it. It did have a sign in the windscreen saying NOT FOR SALE. I was gonna ask about it, till I looked inside. And stared at the blank area of white metal where the VIN notch should be Didn't even bother asking about it once I seen that and left

Dodgy as a fat bastards ass after a curry fest - stay well away if I was all you lot!!!!!

Thrush,

saw the same s1 whilst nosing around round the back of the garage.

Looked like it had plants growing in it flat tyres and needed major welding etc etc so we thought it had just been dumped there.
We thought we'd ask how much he wanted for it thinking he wouyld say a couple of hundred with a view to stripping it and i think he said £2500!!!!!!

Was a state and is probably still there now i imagine unless some mug has bought it!!

This one has been doing the rounds for a while I believe.

Why would the police have a 3dr built years after production ceased when they were buying up the more suitable 4x4 Saffs for buttons at the time ( they had the last batch for 10k each brand new ).

The police link is probably because it was built up from a new shell the same as mine, but unlike mine did not have a dedicated VIN number so probably had one stamped on the strut body, as do most built up cars. This is usually a unique number put together by the local plod on behalf of the DVLC.

18k - I better up my asking price

It was up for £2400 several months ago!

I asked him on the phone what it was like and he said it is in beautifull condition, wouldn't look out of place at an RSOC show he said. The only defect he said hecould think of was a bit of rust on the drivers front wing, but nothing major.

That must be some mutant rust cos when I got there about 3hrs later it had turned into a hole I could fit my fist into

ALL boost hoses colapsed under slightest throttle, smoked more than me, interior bits missing and seats so dirty a pikey wouldn't even sit in em All the carpet was wet, sun roof didn't even open, and lights were like fish tanks

I asked how much it was again. He said £2400, I told I wouldn't even give him £24 for it

i first went there to look at a 4x4 for a friend, it was up for about 5.7k
one week, then 4.5 the next, the guy told us it was totally standard,
the first thing you noticed was koni's, drilled disks & a stainless pipe.
unfortunally the trim was worn to fook & most of the panels were scratched.
it would have been ok for 3.5k, but not much more.
