Default Series one gearbox into a S2?

Hi people ive picked up a used S1 box for my S2
and i was wondering whats involved in fitting it?.

Is it a pain in the arse of fairly straight forward with
only a few minor bits that need swapping?.

Thanks in advance matt.

think its just gearbox mounts that are diff not 100% on that though apart from that should bolt straight on

Straight swap. You'll just get quite a lot shorter gears because of the 4.27 ratio.

S1 mounts and box case are different the s2 uses a cradle under the box s1's dont they use a mount at the front and at the back so it's not a straight swop your better off getting a s2 box mate

Yup. Won't fit straight in for the reasons above plus gear linkages are different, as is the reverse function. (One reverse gate is in the box, other is in the linkage itself)

Get an S2 box.

Shame you've just paid out for the S1 box, but sure you'll sell it on here once you become a goldmember

The gear linkages are different but doesn't really matter.

Both have 100% certain push down and back reverse. If you don't, then your's broken.

The S2 cradle fits just fine the S1 gearbox. It's a straight fit, but only this direction. The S2 gearbox won't fit the S1, because it has missing the mounting locations.

Edited. Just had to go check tho...
It's the reverse gate itself that is different between the two cars.
Got confused as my old S2 had a Mk3 gearlever in a Mk4 box and I had to buy a Mk4 lever for my quick-shift for it to fit.
