Obviously the way to go is to lower the compression but was wondering who's running a standard block? I have read it can be done.

 

Was reading through a old fast ford mag, had a escort zvh in it running standard block with just a low compression plate and 2 felpro head gaskets, 218bhp @ 8psi

 

useing this "compresion plate" LOWERS the compresion!

hardly any lag and thats only at 7-9psi.

but I dont think it will last long TBH, you get what you pay for and this engine is a cheap build.

i justwent to me local machine shop and had me pistons machined down ,

i aint going for silly power but more relaibility as ive knacked in a load ov cvh motors ,

should sitll see 200 bhp though

just have to get home form the usa to play with her now

only choice for big power really is proper pistons imo

but like me you probably trying to keep the costs down ,

pull them out and skim them and stear clear of decomp plates ,

just mark the rods and pistons as they come outthe block and be careful when removing the rings fella
