Default Whats a NEW RS500 COMPLETE engine worth??

Forget about the condition etc.... but what do the guys in the know think a complete RS500 engine (including turbo, plennum etc)... BRAND NEW and still in a FORD crate.

I have been offered one and not sure if I could make a quick buck on breaking it down etc (as it's surely worth more money that way).

Spadge,

I will have a chat with him in the week. He spoke to me last night saying "Shaun.... I know you want it"...... but he was pissed! I will confirm the price and have a look at it and get back in touch with you mate. The guy is sound, but I wouldnt get your hopes up until I have seen it in the flesh..... as you never know.

I'll be in touch.

shaun dont forget your talking about a standard engine yes?

so not run for whot 15 years! and the hole point of useing a rs500 as a base is to get big power,

so it would need stripping with loads of new uprated bits and all the other stuff like porting head studd kit ect, ect,

standard turbo would need modding for big power and they only run 4 injectors as standard,

i would say complete about 4.5 to 5k would be about the right price,

so only really good for buffey boys,

yep they were complete, but unusually they had the 4x4 type cam covers but 100% genuine straight from Cosworth - 2 different sources, this was a while ago but probably still available

As everyone else has said are they worth that anymore when you can get a well built uprated one for not a lot more

also meant to say I had a complete new one only missing inlet and turbo and it took ages to shift - let it go for £1500 in the end just to get shot of it. This was before ebay though probably would have got double that knowing my luck.
