The iB5 gearbox came with a selection of final drive options:

3.82
3.84
4.06
4.27

The above are listed by Haynes and are "according to model".

My current gearbox, as fitted as standard to my 1.6 has the 3.82, which I'd obviously like to change to 4.27 as I'm preparing the car for track.

I rang CTS to discuss a stg. 2 spec in an iB5, using this final drive, but was told they cannot source the part.

Does anyone know what model Escort / Focus / KA / Puma this 4.27 ratio came in? Or are there any lower than the 4.27?

I've been to my Ford dealer, but cannot source the part alone, and Microcat doesn't let them find out what cars it was fitted to

No-ones even changed the Final Drive on their RST? (which uses the predecessor to the iB5..)

mabey have a look in the haynes manual of the other possibilites

 

There's a fiesta pickup truck in south america that has an even lower ratio than the 4.27 but its very difficult to source one.

 

1.4 and racing puma had the lower 4.27 final drive, probably also the 1.4 / 1.25 fiesta.
