Default Big End Bearings

Do these look ok?

Just removed them for inspection.

No coppery or shine, very dull shells, but was concerned about the lines and tiny speckles in the metal, or is that in the shells themselves, not from the engine.

Cheers

the shells dont look very worn, but they do look a very dark colour, unless its the light on the picture.you will allways get some metal debris floating around in the oil to score the bearings as they are very soft.i would check the crank for wear,as thats the important part.i replace the shells anyway if rebuilding a engine, false econnomy not to.

not building an engine just took them off for inspection really as i am refitting my big winged sumper with my new custom baffle plates

they are dark, but alot of it is poor lighting.

Would always change them if you have the engine apart, as above its a false econnomy not to.

At £58 for a full set of genuine cosworth Ford Big ends and mains from GGR I have to agree with cossie4i - false economy not to treat as a consumable item
