Depends what you're after mate, IMO the 1.8 turbo will be more fun and hold its value much better, downside is that the running costs will prob be a bit higher

1.8turbo for sure.

although diesel is probably the better option, try a search as this topic has been discussed loads recently!

1.8 turbo is quite good on fuel,probably better than the 2.0. diesel is the way forward, buy one and an extra Ł400 on a remap will make it blow the socks off a 1.8t

Or spend 400quid on the 1.8T and make it even faster

Dont really want a diesel car tbh. Was going to go for a GTTDI but we are spending a little less than first thought...and ive always said petrol for cars, diesel for work vans

Steve what gains would the 1.8t for 400 quid?

power, torque and response. dont know the figures for the petrol, but with the diesel over 200BHP and 350FT/lb is possible.

My mate has a 1.8t golf with a 225 BHP tt engine fitted. its rapid

Looks good. Might go for the 1.8t then! Not bothered about going mad on it as its Lindsays everyday car...but if 400 quid buys decent power ill prob get that done without her knowing
