Default T34 v T28

As you all know i have a T28 turbo on the car, would i benefit in anyway if i put a T34 on it

Would it be more laggy
Would it give me more top end power
Would it do nothing at all

Here is the current spec

1618cc CVH, stage 2 big valve head (ported and polished), Newman cam, solid lifters, piper vernier, wire ringed block, lowered compression(7.5:1), ARP conrod Bolts, heavy duty bearings, high pressure oil pump, AVA ecu, 7000rpm limiter, AVA modified fuel system, AVA high flow tubular manifold, T28 turbo, 360 bearing, reshaped cosworth front pipe, AVA Large capacity intercooler, samco water and boost hoses, magnecor leads, magnex exhaust, modified airbox.

Its making 205 ATW with 16psi boost

Just curious

got my car with a 'straight t3' , o.48 hot and o.42 cold side
use to spin into third at the strip
fiited a hybrid t3/t4 0.48 hot and 0.60 cold
spins less low down and goes better at the top
starts boosting at 2k , 0.5 at 3k , hard boost after that!

Would be alot more laggy i think on that spec, boost would come in later and hard but would pull for longer so is a tough compromise.

If you did fit one i'd go with slightly more boost.

I highly doubt you'd hit full boost until 4000rpm on a 1.6 with a T34..

Yeah about that, but wouldn't start until about 2.8k anyway so not a bad powerband

That's fine Stuart, but we should point out how Roller Bearing turbo's are 'disposable'!!! So, no Ł150 rebuilds if an RB Turbo shats its load. It's a 'pop it in the bin job'.

davie why go for a t34 when a stg 3 t3 would be sufficient
as for boost,is your boost not limited because the head or block(or both were skimmed) when you blew a head gasket, would still make more power on a stg t3 at that boost anyway

ive got a t34,
and the bost delivery is very violent,
but i do have positive boost by three, and it peaked at 1.6 (more than i want to run) by 3600 yezsturday in third, and holds that boost till the red line.

its also worth considering that a t34 will make more power than a stg3 t3 at the ssame boost,

go for it aslong as you dont use the car as a daily runner

also worth considerin that it will lose around 1000rpm from the power band and make it a lot less driveable, and the extra bhp that it may make will make it a slower car than havin that extra 1000prm
peak power isnt everthing, and i still say a t34 is far to big a turbo for a 1.6 running 16psi of boost

i would agree, but im runnig closer to 25 so its not a problem for my car, and its only a week end toy,

although i dont think its any more laggy than my old completetly standard rs turbo

Wouldn't personally use a T34 on a 1600 unless going clear over about 280hp , mainly because like Jambo says driveability. T3 would be far better turbo for T28 RST

Whcih T28 have u got? There's loads..... And most flow a lot more than an rst t3.....

And as for lag - stick a t34 on a std engine, and yes, it will be laggy...
