Gamble with as much as you can afford to lose IMO.

A £5 unidentifiable chip being responsible for your engine? I wouldn't.

Yeah fair play,i was just curious,i'm have'nt yet decided if i'm gonna chip my car, everything is standard at the moment and the engine/clutch will likely last longer if i leave it be,just so tempting when it's so easy to do

Get a proper Stage 1 chip from someone like Turbosystems, they will do an exchange ECU I imagine. Then get it fitted along with a -31 Actuator and a brass 3-way lockable bleed-valve. Once thats done, have a proper RR tune by someone who knows what they are doing (like us!!) and you should see around 30-35bhp above standard. Not really any nasty stress on the engine at that point providing its in reasonable condition and looked after and it will put a grin on your face!

Worth renewing the fuel pump though if there is no record of it having been done.

they can supply and fit an actuator if you want but you'd better putting one on yourself, save the dreaded labour and vat
ava make there own chips

Do they have the re-programmer? I thought Turbosystem and Ahmed were about the only 2 people that could still write a 'proper' chip for the RST?

Although at Stage 1 you could use the add-on board, to remove the boost-cut.

dont know the ins and outs but they do make there own chips, maybe down your way there the only 2 that can do 'proper' chips, they also do there own management system,so id expect a 'proper' chip would be no problem to them
