im on with my car at mo trying to sort the fucker out.its been acting up as it fires first time, but as soon as it warms up if you turn it off it wont start back up for ages.
its been left out on the drive for a few weeks now as i couldnt be arsed with it,so idecided to fire it up today and its just turning so i took the lead off on cylinder no1 and there's no spark.but when you turn the ignition on there is one spark and that is it.it has recently had a brand new phase sensor(im not sure if it is gapped perfectly).i have changed the crank sensor, it wasn't brand new but it was in better condition than the old one.any ideas or help appreciated as im getting pissed off cheers

ANYTHING could be wiring on a 20 year old cossie loom, but as thats not changed, it seems less likely than the sensors that have changed since it was last working. (although moving the wires to change the sensors can of course finnish off an already bad connection!)

well then here u go , multimeter and check continuity thruogh the hole loom
but if you require a new loom contact ryan off here i think it would be around Ł350 and a nice loom by all accounts

list all the sensors you have tried and go from there
i think thats what was wrong with my cossie but i had a different problem to him
min was missing and cutting out when changing gear then coming back to life unless i drove gentle
my solution was to fit a new engine, all new sensors, new wiring loom ,,,,,,,,,,,,,
oh and a dizzyless secs ecu so ive replaced any posible part and now it shoulds start
also fitted a new fuel pump too and im gonan redo that wiring

loom is piss easy on a cossie mate, its all 1 part with a multi plug that has 4 wires on it
i can even tell ya where they go too,,,,,,, 1 is tacho, 1 is water temp, one is switched live the last one is main live
the loom is earthed via the plenum for some reason ( which i find strange tbh
)
ive removed and fitted a cossie loom whilst my microwave meal was cooking

I had exactly trhe same problem. 1st time i changed map sensor and it started, then i changed phase sensor and it started. Then after a week of okishness it cut out whilst driving. So i got a new wiring loom on it and the problem styaed away

or just the engine loom??
hey greg, dont buy a loom just yet have a look at my posts and go through the wiring on the ecu there is a full check list. its dead easy or even better get hold ov an led tester and plug it in to the ecu they more or less point you to the right directin.
what i done was check that you are getting power to your ecu, if you are then now check you are getting an ac voltage back to you ecu from your crank and phase sensor, just cos your not getting a spark it doesnt mean its the sensor,
unplug the ecu loom and unplug the phase an crank sensor, if you have a metre check that these wires are not broke,. i will put my house on it that its a bad earth dis connect all the engine earths and clean them up.
check from batt earth to ecu pin 1 i think that there is a good 10 ohms if its less then the cable is damaged or a faulty connection..
pm me ur number if you want...am better talkin lol
