New style M.O.T came in JAN 1st this year,so from next JANUARY everybody will have the new stlye M.OT and will indeed be able to tax their car online.But although on the computer you will be taxed you can,t drive it until you have recieved it ,otherwise you will be done for not displaying a valid tax disc.

I did mine at the end of June and must say its a damn site better than queueing up in the post office.
If your tax reminder comes through and you haev a refernce number on the right hand side of the reminder then you can tax your vehicle online . If the box on the right od the tax reminder is blank then you'll have to do it the old fashioned way
