got the ecu apart on my s2 at the moment and was just wondering if its the big chip that gets changed

cheers 4 that,thats the 1,mines got a little sticker on it with lcs3 9205 written on it,does anybody know what it might b for

take it u dont know what its 4 then,it was also written on the chip aswell in pen,im new with turbo motors so any idea on what it could b 4 would b a great help,i dont want 2 go and buy a new chip 4 the car if i dont need 2,take the piss all u want but i dont care

Sounds like a stranded chip to me, is it soldered to the circuit board

As most after market chips are unplug able, look at the photo in an earlier post

would all the pins be soldered then bcause it looks like it just plugs in

If it plugs in then it will be an aftermarket one. Originals were soldered in.

What it is i dont have a clue mate sorry

That metal clip over the chip can be removed (carefully, from the reverse) to see if the chip itself has a tuner sticker on it. ECU's are static sensitive too don't forget.

Uprated chips are sometimes soldered directly to the board, but most tuners would solder back in a socket thesedays (same amount of work, less risk, and easier for future changes)

chip has a little white sticker on it with lcs3 9205 written on it and som1 has written it on the actual chip aswell,deffinatly looks like its plugged in,its a motorola chip if thats any help

They all have Motorola chips. Sorry, didn't read post properly before re: lcs 9205 sticker - doesn't sound like a tuner identification sticker though

does the chip in the pic look like its a plug in 1 do u think,mine looks just like that,not directly soldered 2 the board,any chance sum1 could hav plugged a standard chip back in
