That is a moisture trap type effort, to help prevent fuel and oil etc getting into the MAP sensor

It'a also a damper to clean the pulsing pressure signal.

BTW it shouldn't be coming off there as that part is blanked off usually
That's where people usually take the feed from for a usefull boost guage or a not even vaguely usefull dump valve

It usually comes off the opposite side of the inlet manifold, but what Oranoco didn't mention (tut tut you're slacking boy
) it doesn't matter as long as its giving the MAP sensor a vacuum supply from directly within the inlet manifold

Cool. While your on. Is 90 degress BTDC the correct position for the missing tooth on my trigger wheel?
Got most of my stuff together now ready for the conversion.
