when i drive the car there is no sounds until i plant the throttle fully and at high rpm. I think it may be coming from the turbo but am not sure. i have never had a stage 3 hybrid before so would not know. Does any1 knw if a turbo would do this or what it might be. Its more like a high pitched scream then a whining noise.

 

also there is no in and out play whatsoever in the shaft and the most minimal side to side that i have ever felt.

I THINK IT IS OVERBOOSTING AS THE ENGINE HAS JUST BEEN CHANGED AND STAGE 3 TURBO FITTED WITH STAGE 2 PLUS BOX, BUT IT AINT BEEN SET UP YET!!!!!
i KNOW WHAT YOU ARE ALL THINKING BUT THE CAR HAS WARMED UP ONLY AND THEN DONE 1 MILE OF DRIVING JUST TO CHECK EVERYTHING IS SAFE. i ONLY PUT MY FOOT DOWN SLIGHTLY AND AT VERY HIGH REVS THERE WAS A LOUD WHISTLE (SCREAM) BUT THE CAR WAS PULLING FINE. i DONT THINK ITS ANYTHING THATS NOT MEANT TO BE THERE BUT CAN YOU TURBO BOYS PLEASE TELL ME WHAT SOUND YOU GET FROM YOUR TURBO SO I CAN NARROW DOWN MY POSSIBLE CAUSES. Also when i rev the car whilst the car is parked the sound is not there but when actually driving then it appears which makes me think its the sound of air through the turbo.

 

They do make a proper lound scream when they spin up

 

well thats a relief, i am hoping it is that but i will tell the garage to check it before they do any dyno runs. Thanks for your replys chaps

 

mines does that noise too but its standard
ok when i accelerate slowly but if you plant ur foot mine screams

 

i have spoken to alot of people today and they have all said it is very common when running high boost or when fitted with a different compressor housing. So i guess it is meant to be, at first i thought it was the sound of wheelspin but then i thought bout iT " I HAVE A QUAIFE DIFF SO THERE SHOULDNT BE ANY WHEELSPIN ) then i realised it was coming from the turbo. it sounds good but i hope it is as i suspect and just the way a turbo sounds when running high boost.

 

after reading all these, bet my cars overboost of sumthing then, was set up by cowboys before i bought it

 

come to think of it, when my car boosts i get like a sort of flat spot, and car doesnt really pull when this happens, could this be a sign of overboosting? soz to change subject abit

 

get it set-up mate and they will check the fueling and bosst etc. It will give you a piece of mind to know the car has been set-up correctly. I am booked in for thursday

 

i got a stage 1 turbo ready to go on cos i thought the noise was a bad thing, but if the turbos ok i will leave my standard one on there cos im not after massive power

Just to let you, what i thought was my turbo screaming, Since i fiited EFI the noise has now gone, must have been a air leak or sumthing in the mfi set up

worth checking ur hoses on the amal valve ect

 

I will have a look mate, cheers. its going in for a setup on thursday now as i have booked it in with chris todd at brooklyn horsepower. I think you are right coz i did discover a pipe blown off shortly after but since putting that back on i have not driven the car. Hopefully there aint no screaming but i aint going to run the car till thursday before the setup. I will let you know the outcome.
