Is it possible to use the bottom end of a sierra 1.8 cvh and bolt my rst turbo head to it?

is it worth the hassle?

not worth it mate and dont think there very reliable as i asked same thing ages ago and its what i got told

 

ive heard only bad things bout the 1.9 jobbys, never heard bad things bout the 1.8's, ferriday engineering do the 1.8 bottom ends

 

well people will tell you bad things bout everything but there are alot of factors to bare in mind. As above ferriday do a very good package and regarding the 1.9 cvh they can be very reliable it just depends whos built em. But yes you can bolt your head up to one, and ferriday uses zetec pistons in his conversion by the way.

 

From what i've learn't the 1.8 bottom end is meant to be shit turbo'd because of the stroke and so forth.....

Thing i've found previously whenever the 1.8cvh is mentioned everyone says how rubbish it is but no-one has actually done it for themselves..

 

iam running a ferriday conversion on mine 4 years ago no problems loads of torque but i only run 15psi

 

i have an Interpro 1.8 conversion and after 3 years its been spot on. 230bhp and 252 lb of torque at 15 psi. ultra reliable too

 

if i was to try it, could someone list the parts id need to do it?

a young lad had one in his escort cabriolet a couple of years back, 1.8 from the sierra and it run like a bag of shit,he had no end of problems with it it used to go up the road popping and banging and misfiring.he then scrapped it and went on to do a 2.0 zvh conversion,so from what ive seen id give it a wide berth.

if it's done properly then you will have no problems.like i said mine has been running for 3 years and it has NEVER missed a beat!! and i do at least 4 track days a year in it.

The 1800cvh has the same rods and crank that is used by WELL KNOW ENGINE builders, for their 1900cvh engines


The rods and crank fail with your Grandad driving so god help the poor engine if Turbo'd
