Default pinto and cosworth yb head

can anyone tell me wether or not a cosworth head will fit onto a 2.0l pinto bottom end. im getting a 2.0l pinto for ym sapphire and was wondering if this is postible as the cosworth engine is based on the pinto 205 block. any help will be greatly appreciated

Yes it will, 2wd blocks were simply pinto blocks specially selected to be within closer tolerances.

and to my knowledge it wouldnt matter if it had a different crank as the crank is in the bottom end and i would be keeping the pinto botom end and jsut changeing the head

depends on the bhp, cos the cossie crank is 9 studded and the normal one is only 6 stud, making it a weaker unit

Yes, but the question was about the block The oil pump and bearings are different too.

You see them on ebay, Motorsport News classfifieds, the parts for sale forums etc.

Not strictly, more of a 16v pinto, along the lines of the Warrior 16v pinto conversion You would probably want to change the cams to a normally aspirated grind.

to do an n/a conversion you will need raised top pistons to up comp ratio, some cams, twin carbs etc. otherwise it will be flat as a fart and u may aswell have stuck with a pinto

This can be costly do do it right to get around the 200 bhp mark!!!!!

good luck

Stock pinto block sounds fine for what you're intending. I think this will be of interest to you http://www.pumaracing.co.uk/pinto.htm
