Default Gearbox oil seals...

Hi there,
i have an S2 and have just changed the gearbox oil seal for the offside driveshaft and now oil is leaking even worse than before and i mean really dripping out. Is this a common problem? im going to change it again, do you think i just fitted a dodgy seal, it was a genuine ford one...???

just done this on both mine i used genuine ford ones too!

how did u knock them in?

best bet is to get an old drive shaft end put the seal on the drive shaft and knock it in with that!!

failing that get a large socket just under the size of the outer part of the seal !

i didnt drift mine all the way in just level with the gearbox then a further 2 mm!!
hope this helps

careful when you push the cv in , you may rub the seal lip and cause a leak.also , dont push this seal all the way

Thanks a lot for all the help, i replaced the seal again and found that the little metal ring that sits in the seal had come out, put another new seal in anyway, took more care this time and its fine now.
Thanks again for the help .
