Default Oil pump - Is it worth replacing?

I'm just rebuilding my engine at the moment and I'm just wondering whether or not it's worth replacing the oil pump.
I'm replacing most thing but I have no idea on how much an oil pump is gonna set me back, I just thought aswell that it's one less thing to go wrong in the long term aswell as on the hunt for more power.

Has anyone bought an oil pump recently? was it hard to fit?

Cheers

Beenie

If you doing a rebuild then get all new part's i say as you dont want it to fuck up when just spent out a load of money and oil pump's are easy to fit when the engine is out

An engine rebuild will always include a new oil pump. Otherwise it's simply an engine refresh.

I would fit a new oil pump to be honest.

dont take a chance if the motor is out , replace!

the haynes manual says the pump cannot be removed in car - rubbish
you just need to remove one of the corners that foul against the body when you remove it - shit job though

i personally replace the gears inside the pump on every rebuild ,
although you need an impact screwdriver to get it to pieces

I was told £69.50 from Burton's about 3 months ago when i looked at replacing mine due to low oil pressure. luckily it was only a switch that cost less than a fiver.
