I'd say, flush the water system out PROPERLY
By this I mean, properly flush rad with a hose from each end about 5 times, also stick a hose in the thermostat and bottom hole in block this will make sure any blockage gets shoved out of the way
Refil with correct mixture water/ant-freeze and let fan cycle run 3-4 times

Hi mate i wouldnt say tour engine on your last legs just becuase of that. If your running the incorrect oil in this wether remember that will also cause tempreture to rise like that in this weather. Especially if its too thin.

my own xr3 turbo runs at 85'c most of the time
i replaced the standard fan with a 12" flat type , much better cooling now , but then again , we have temps up to 35'c in summer
my car does not like running hard in these temps , prefers the cooler nights
try running some rad cleaner for 100km and them flush with a garden hose , this job is a lot easier with the rad out.you should see plenty of muck flush out , this stuff clogs up your rad and leads to increased running temps

RS's...u've gotta love em...but mine's usually broke!!
If you're that concerned about temperatures then you need to pull your wallet out and buy a nice expensive and accurate gauge.
To be honest though, as shit as factory fitted gauges are, they are enough to know when things are ok, and when they aren't........
