Default Clutc Ratchet

Car: 1994 Fiesta Si 16v

had to get towed home last night. went to press clutch pedal to select gear, was met with a bang and pedal shot to floor, pressed it again, same. cant disengage clutch, just keeps clicking out on the ratchet mechanism.
anyone know if this is hard to replace?

thanks in advance
JJ

If it went bang i'll bet you a jam tart the cables snapped!!!

Even when the adjusters go u can still usually disngage the clutch enough to get it in gear.

Has the pedal lost all its resistance?
