Just set fire to the car.....
Trying to find out why the car wasn't starting. Took the hose from the metering head to the throttle off and gave it a crank to see if any fuel was being used and BANG!!!
Fucking 5 foot flames out the top of the engine bay!!!! And I aint bloody kiddin either.
Well managed to put it out, but looks like the wiring round the throttle is fooked and a few of the fuel lines are burt to a crisp.
Soundlike something ignighted and backfired into the plenum? set fire to the fuel that was in there already.
Oh well, good thing I have two more XR3i laying about....

I dont think I'm gonna touch it till someone who knows what they are doing come down to help.
Sorry can't help it!!!

Just spent the last hour or so taking bits off. Just as I hope the easy to fix damage in on three of the fuel lines and a couple of hoses. However the wiring loom around the throttle and injecttors is well and truely burnt to a crisp.
On the part marked B on this diagram (easier if I just do the diagram rather than try and name it) on the side of it is a point where the plug for the injector clips in. This was just loose!! I mean the whole thing has a missing bolt and was flapping about.
need to get my other tool kit before I can take the whole manifold off. But I'm wondering if this is where the problem is....

How long has it taken for you to reply to this!!1
Well you will be glad to know its well underway to being back on the road again. Just need to take about 3 hours to wire the loom back up
Still not sure what caused the problem in the first place
