fitted a gear box to a 1.8 derv , P reg , hydraulic clutch etc , some reason i have oil coming out the air vent in top o box , doing ma head in , can any one help ASAP ....... filled box to level mark so not over filled it ... cheers , by the way think its my 1st post ,,, so hi to you all ....

 

Is that a BC or MTX box? I presume you mean the rubber pipe on the side cover? Did you fill the box up with the car level?

hi .... its the gear boc of the mark 4 , the breather is at the top of the box right onto the gear box mount , you would think there was to much oil in it , lucky if there is 2 litres , but now loosing a lot so lucky if there is a litre lol ... no leak from shaft seals as i done them b4 it went in ..... never heard of this prob b4 , like the box is building up pressure

 

So its a BC box. Surely there can't be that much oil coming out that pipe is tiny

 

not small tube , its a plastic tube and yes theres lots , box and under car is soaking wet .... a 1st 4 me

 

usually its a plastic push in onto the box with a rubber pipe....

Did you fill it with the car level?

 

ye mate i did , i have done cars for years , street mechanic as they like to call us , never had this prob b4 ,,,, its like when you get an old engine with back pressure and the oil forces out the breather pipes , well this is doing exact same ,,,, confuuuuuuuuuuuuuuused . com lol
