Welcome to about a year ago when the drifty 340s first appeared on PF.

And they all underpowered shite regardless of engine, but underpowered shite is the best way to learn, as you cant rely on power.

Clio 16V and Renault 5 GTT engines will go in with various mods, the blocks etc fit easy as the Volvos and Renaults of the time shared engines.

The 2.3turbo 740 engine fits too, but meant to fuck the handling, not like they really have any anyhow.

Cool as they different, but not much different other than that going for em than any other RWD with no power and a small amount of mods available for em.

Apparently his gearbox locked up on him and it went straight into the kurb at a high speed.

That pic has totally changed my opinion of them. I slated them on Driftworks as a potential drift choice

Maybe I'll have a 200sx for my posing car and a Volvo for my real driftmobile!

Oh and how come FWD engines go into them so easily? And which ones go in best?

Why do they go in? Why not? Being a FWD or RWD engine makes no difference barring sump really, and not always even that.

Best? Whatever you wanna spend, GTT needs more work with manifolds adapting more.

Jay, just fucking do SOMETHING, you seem to do a 100 posts a day umming and aaahing about countless cars for countless reasons, but do nowt, your coming close to taking MadMacs crown for dreaming

Yes I know. It's cause I think I've made my mind up, then see something else

I can't help it.

As for the engines, I just thought that RWD and FWD were mounted differently and that there was a hell of a lot of work involved in putting an FWD engine in a RWD car.

Yes, on both the R5 and Clio engine, they need new turbo manifolds (otherwise the turbo sits in the heaterbox!) and like wise, on the Clio enigne, the throttlebody it right up against the wiper linkage.

Water hoses need adapting, engine mounts etc, exhaust..

Its just the way you wrote it mate.

The clio engines ive seen have all been put on TB's etc for that reason, and the GTT engine I seen in another just had an adapted ex manifold.

Yes, i know how I wrote it looks a little strange..

The problem with the throttlebodies and new exhaust manifold is it then makes a cheap engine in a cheap car now an expensive modification..

My mate used to drive his Mum's Volvo 340DL when he was 17. He wrote it off in Watford trying to race a Saab. RIP C484GVW

I've driven a couple of 340 1.7's and they both misfire when you goround corners due to fuel flow to the carb apparantley its a common prob
