i noticed them talking about banning ufc, it would only go underground, then there would be no medical team, no paramedics, no structure. to be honest im a huge fan of ufc, i think mma is the future of martial arts, and combat sports in genral, i cant wait for july 8th, tito ortiz v ken shamrock, its gona be all out war, the first fight between them was my favorite fight in ufc history.

he was absolutely awsome. would like to see him fight the deaf guy (hamill) i think. The middle weight fight earlier was a cracker. Was waiting for the ginger guy to take a beating all the series. Fair play though it was an even fight and they both got contracts.

Boxing is actually FAR more Dangerous in my view. Boxing has continued blows to the head for 12 rounds as opposed to a couple of punches, knees, kicks and then some wrestling and a choke...

Gannon is a FAILED UFC fighter... so fuck that Dave how hard?!?!? He was in hospital for a long while after. And he WON!

Shocking isn't it Alot of the damage was done early with the two Guillotine standing chock holds apparently. Would have really really taken it out of Kimbo.

Mat, I didn't say there was alot of MMA in there. and there is a reason.

basically that Kimbo dude offered to fight anyone anywhere anytime... so Gannon said ok and flew over to fight.

Now Kimbo's team were not THAT stupid and knew that their fighter would get kicked to death or put in a choakhold by an experienced UFC or MMA fighter like Gannon.

So they insisted on a few rules and Gannon agreed on them.

1. No kicking - but they also 'meant' no knees BUT did not specify (hence the uproar when Gannon knees him)

2. No Groundwork - as Kimbos team did not want him getting choaked out. However they did not bank on gannon using a standing Choakhold

Gannon was an experienced UFC fighter with alot of MMA skills where as Kimbo is just a backyard brawler. Thats why I think Kimbo did well!

if im wrong i hold my hands up, but i dont see the need for underground mma when it is a massive international sport, that would be like undeground football, imo why do it undergound when you can go to a gym, which there is at least 1 in most town or city nowadays, where you can be trained proper mma instructors, and actually make a proffesion of it. back in the day when mma was first starting out, it was pretty much like an underground fight, anyone who has seen old video's of the pride fighting championships in japan will tell you that. but now there is more rules, and structure to the fights. ive noticed reference to the kimbo fights, i posted the second fight against gannon months ago when someone started a thread about the first one in the backyard, kimbo is basically an underground fighter, but he is very 1 dimentional, beacuse his forte is boxing, his first in the backyard was a boxing match, his second fight against gannon kept getting interupted by people shouting "no knee's, no knee's", for me it was a miss match, a boxer against a mixed martial artist, and gannon didnt even go mma on him, he caught him with a couple of knees, if he had gone full mma on him, the fight would have been lucky to last 60 seconds.

gypsys have been bare knuckle fighting for years, although theres not much skill in it if you ask me, doesnt take much brain power to stand there and knock 3 bells of shite out of someone.

they'll never ban ufc as its becomming to popular and making to much money and even if they did it would only move down to mexico, the whole brutality arguments been thrown around for years for boxing but thats never been banned, govenments stand to loose to much money to ever ban it and if ufc keeps going the way it is the same will apply there.

ufc's become very tame compared to its early days but its had to in order to be seen as a "professional sport" which i would say has been for the better.

it wont be long till sky sports catch on and start showing it when the bravo contract is up so that should promise some ppv shows etc.
