Default Would this powerchip work on my xr2i 16v

Just wondering if anyone knows if this would work? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-Fiesta-XR...QQcmdZViewItem
This 4 pin code written on that chip is different to the one on my car which is 2fcd. Would it work? My car is a Fiesta XR2i 1.8 16v 1992 model.

Its the correct chip, but i would email and ask for more specific details on the chips current map. the majority of XR2i's are 1.6 CVH 8 valves, but there are a limited number of the 1.8 16V Zetecs (same engine as the RS1800).

Id say it was the right map if hes listing it for RS1800's aswell but its always best to ask rather than assume

OK ill ask if its actually off an rs1800. I was going to fit a 2.0 litre zetec throttle body off a mondeo as well just to give it a bit more poke. Only other thing was 2.0 litre cams then it would be about rs1800 power (130bhp) mine only has 105bhp as standard.

See the only thing then is the MAP will probably need adjusting.......to suit the extra air allowed in etc....

1AFA is for the 1.6 cvh XR2i. Do not fit this to any other ecu and expect it to run right. The eec-iv management is calibrated to the engine size.

sailorbob very well spotted i faield to see that, i actually saw it as some dirt lol

Tom`s Fiesta he is correct though, 1AFA is the ECU used for the CVH 8v, i bet you are glad i told you to double check now

It can be re-flashed if you win it cheap enough to warrant doing it

lol OK thanks guys I asked the seller and he said it came off an 16v xr2i! Cheeky sod! I think ill just get an rs1800 ecu or mondeo 2.0litre ecu instead would they just plug and and work?

So list is:
2.0 ECU
2.0 TB
2.0 MAF
2.0 Cams

Should be 130+ bhp is that right. Got that info off fiestaturbo.com

Theres so many different 2.0 ECU's, and then theres also the variations for the early cars that have external EDIS and later ones have internal EDIS. I wouldn't of thoiught the car would run very well on 2.0 litre management, surely it will over fuel?

You need the RS1800 ecu and MAF as the eec-iv management is calibrated with the the engine size. The injectors might be needed too if they are different on the RS1800.

Hmm, the guide doesn't mention using a 2.0l ecu and no mention of the injectors either. I don't know if 1.8 XR2i and RS1800 injectors are the same, manufacturers generally fit the smallest injectors they can (to get the best atomisation) so they could be different. I do know that the following injectors are the same;
DEWY, EARS, DESK, DEEP (all 2.0l ecus) and BLOB and SACK (1.8l ecu's)

Mondeo 2.0L parts can be used, including 93-95 ECUs and all 2.0L cams (which are the same part number).
Yeah does in there.
Been offered some Kent cams and verniers what would happen if I put them in on standard ECU? Definitely need an RS ECU then wouldn't i?I dont want to go too mad!

I must learn to read things more thoroughly and not to skim But back to the point, they are wrong. You should not use eec ecu's from a different size engine on your engine because the ecu uses the engine size to calculate LOAD which is used for all manner of things like fuel and spark table look ups. The ecu will be using the wrong results of these look ups if the engine size is different.

If you fit different cams then ideally you would want to chip the ecu to take into account the effects of the cams, this might be going a bit too far expense wise for the gains though. You definitely should try and get a RS1800 ecu, or chipping the 2.0l to tell the ecu of the engine size change is another way of doing it.

It's cheaper to fit megasquirt than fit custom eec modules these days, and MS pretty much plugs and play into any edis car 8)

The MS still needs mapping and it's not as simple as it's made out to be.

Tom, if you have difficulty getting a RS ecu drop me a pm about tweeking a 2.0l one.
