BLOODY HELL! My turn for a PROBLEM
Well, ive been tryin to help a few peeps with some small probs, Daveescos, Stu h etc etc now ive got my own
Cars been fine since i picked saturday. EVEN BETTER after removing the D/V!!!!! Just been out in it, and it has developed a 'hesitancy' at around 3-3.5k.
If i try and accelerate through 3-3.5k, it hesitates....if i slightly let off the accelerator then floor it it goes like stink and perfect. IF i dont lift of and continue to floor it through 3-3.5, it hesitates and then does a little spluttery pop out of back, then its off like stink again.
NOT had chance to do much looking, just made sure nowts come off like vacuum pipe etc, but before i do any pointers? I usualy can pin point faults on these, but this has got me a bit
Cheers Lee..

boost limiter cutting in?
i'm only saying that as mine done that too if i gently pushed throttle it would go for it but flooring it made it do as you say
check actuator? boost hose collapsing? amal valve?
all i can think of through mine mate

only joking
mate i dont know an awful lot but sounds like a firing issue. maybe check plug leads dizzy etc, or it could be the dreaded knock sensor fault
i'll go into more detail if u cant sort it
Right:
Not collapsing hose....silicones(very frim too)
Not AMAL as thats done away with. Just has pipe from commpressor housing to actuator.
and with it being chipped im assuming no boost limiter????
Stu Knackers
Im thinking firing actually. Gonna get a Dizzy cap and rotor arm tomoz(dont harm to change em)
OWT ELSE?

You have a bleed valve on it Lee??
Had this on my Red RST, had to turn it down, was on the VERY limit of overboost
Too much = fooked headgasket
Get it checked dude!
Also, when it's chipped some chips have limiters, one on Red RST did

Lee what boost is it set up to peak and hold?
I have had this twice on S2's 1st time it was a knackered set of plugs (they broke down internally), and 2nd time it was a slightly too bigger gap on the plugs for the boost i was running
Hope that helps.
IMO change the plugs 1st and gap them small to see

Dave if you get it sorted are you coming Essex meet tomorrow night?
hmmmm maybe not checked leads. Look fine tho. 8mm silicone jobbies look quite new but never know...... Thing is id thing leads to be mroe 'irratic' rather than everytime at 3-3.5k. Never alters.
check the plug gaps
also pull the hose off the accuator and give it a run up the road it will boost like fuck but dont kill the car you could blow it up try it in third
if you have got magnecore leads them bin them and fit genuine ford leads
also try lifting the plug leads up off the plugs so they are just bearly touching this increases the spark and might iron out the missfire
hope this helps
thanks jc

I would point to one of two possible things....
1) boost limiter. My last S1 was like that, floor it nad it was hesitant and sluggish, lift off a bit and it flew. Problem solved but finding out someone had wound the actuator out way to many times
so wound it back in
2) ignition problem. If not a boost issue, only other ting I can think off is maybe a plug(s) not sparking properly around that rpm range. Forthe sake of Ł15 might as well change the plugs....

Cheers Thrush. As said above i have changed plugs, bcr8es.
I reckon chances are the actuator, ive just laid under car, and there is a gap between the link part of the rod(the end where rod screws in then connects to wastegate arm) and the nut that secures the rod to stop it closing/opening. The gap is about 3-4mm so ireckon it need rod winding back in to close that gap....fingers crossed job sorted. Need to whip it to me mdads all me tools are there. Any more idead before i go?
