Default Oil consumption Cossie 4x4

Hi Canada calling

Can anyone throw some light on my problem? I have a 1991 Cossie 4x4 with only 113,000 kilometres genuine (no doubt) which burns more oil than it should. It seems it is worse under hard driving, no smoke to speak of but seems to consume 1 pint to 500kilometres, no oil leaks, engine in good original shape. I am thinking it may be breather system or PCV valve if it has one or could the turbo be losing it through the bearing but then I would see smoke. If I rev the engine quite high when stationary I get a small amount of blue smoke mixed with black but nothing that would give me this consumption.

Being in Canada I have no where to go with this one as no one knows what a cossie is

Hi m8,

If you use the search feature on this forum you will find a lot of posts about Cosworth oil consumption

Ford quoted upto a litre of oil could be burnt within 600 miles, depending on driving style that is quoted in the orig brochure that came with the Cosworth

That sounds just like my Cossie, drinks oil but doesn't smoke.
