Default Hot start s2

my starter motor wouldnt work when my engine got hot and i found some time ago that a heat sheild was missing, so i got one and fitted it with a different starter, since then my cars been in the body shop but now i got it back and i could try it, car was idling on my drive for abit and when i turned it off and on again the starter motor locked slightly then kicked in!
i think it wont work at all like last time if the car was hotter

the heat sheild i put on seems small and clips on to the pipe, is this defo the only sheild for the starter?

ive seen some starter sheilds in burtons cateloge that cover the starter, should i try one of these mayb?

Have you checked the wiring supply to the starter?? Could be fried as well as the old starter? Maybe worth re-wiring??

wouldnt that cause problems on a normal cold start too? as it turns over fine when cold, i think the wires where ok when i put another starter in but didnt follow them back that far to be honest

Its worth checking the solenoid wire in particular, they tend to corrode etc.

Chances are its the starter though.
