Default ERST ZVH conversions

OK, what kind of money does it take for something like this?

Obviously it would be better to buy a brand new block and head from ford but lets just say you was trying to stick to a budget, what would the damage be.

this is starting from scratch so no turbo, loom or anything.

Can anyone put a list up of what would be needed for a running conversion ie: pistons and stuff.

http://www.jimhearne.co.uk/zvh.htm is a good site.

Obvoisly the spec of the engine will depend on how much it would cost.

I'd say anything from £2000 up to £7000 (depending on spec and how much work you do yourself).

I think mine has stuck me in about £6500 including All new parts, accralite pistons, copper head gasket, T34 turbo etc (however i've done most of the work myself).
My management was about another £1800 on top of that.

Matt.

just depends on the spec you could get the cost down as low as £300 if you wanted to stick with a standard zetec bottom end with a plate to lower the compression all you would need is

1.8 zetec bottom end £150
water pump conversion plate £30
plate to lower compression £30
cheap simple way to block off oil ways £10
arp head bolts £40
felpro comp head gasket £40
some one to make a hole in the sump and mount the breather pipe £10

Wouldn't want to run more than about 180hp on Crabby's method to ne honest, its worth using decent pistons, even if its just Calibra Turbo ones.
