Default Engine dropped her guts - Any advice on damage? Please.

Guys had one hell hole of a weekend. The first outing for my ERST and Smartrs Cossie and they both die as we pull in the gates of santa pod for this years USC.
Mine popped the hose coming off the water pump and drops its guts all over the road with some very amused by standers shouting hey mate u need a Scooby.
Well any way I get her towed round to our club camping area and let her cool down and I mean right down. I manager to replace the hose and fill her up with water to see the damage.
Well good news so far she starts. However 2 minutes go by and we get smoke from the exhaust and signs of water getting to the back.
So fair enough Think I did the head gasket. Now being so desperate to get this car out I went to see Steve at A1 and get a new gasket. Now I did the worst thing ever and now this may cause concern but I replaced the gasket out on the field without being checked and skimmed.
Well the gasket I pulled of was savaged.
Any way car all back together finished about 9 last night. But getting alot of smoke when I let off, not sure weather oil or just steam. Seems to smell a bit of oil to be honest. Now I thought that maybe the turbo was damaged as it had just had a 1 hour run from my house but thought well the S1 never had water cooling did they.

What sort of damage can a water loss when hot cause.

Yeah cos then it'd have been a piston and engine oil on the floor rather than water.

Sort the hose out and see what happens chap. I done it on mine years ago and got away with it so you might be lucky.
