Maybe, depends on the design of the components or who you listen too. I have had various coiloverconfigerations on the rear of Escorts since 1993 and the only problems I have had are with standard converted struts bending, or oil/gas leaks.

Leda do advise that the rear turrets be strengthened which creates more work and therefore more expenditure.

MEF(Bilstein) setup like Tonys above do away with the need to have the rear strengthend.

ok but if leda say the turrets need strengthening how does the mef bilstein one over come this. also as the mef coilovers are bilstien does this mean they are none adjustable on the damping side of things?

The extra strength for the load bearing is designed into our top mounts.

Bilstein come preset to specific rates - get this choice right and you will NEVER need to play with damping rates (just spring rates). Most escorts weigh pretty much the same so requirement for damping rates falls within an easy band.

If you want fancy toys to play with they can come with AVO inserts which have adjustable damping but bearing in mind most people only ever play with them once and then set them and forget them its a bit pointless.
