How much power DO u need?
Well i always though more power the better!!! But after going out in Daz's A1 Escort cossie today i was fookin impressed its 400bhp ish and fook me what a weapon on track!!!!!! Do u really need anymore power? ok i know its all striped out etc but still!!!
Is power just a numbers game half the time?

You do get used to the power I reckon (unless it's a weekend toy) - as long as the chassis/driver can keep up, more is good (depending how the power is delivered etc.
)!!
I've personally stuck at stage three for now as the best all round for everyday use, imo. Plus with 4x4, have to consider transmission earlier than you 2wd boys....

Yeah you need loads more power to make a bit more difference in speed, best to sort the transmission and keep the horses reliable. I imagine you get used to watever power you have, always want more
330 is good for everyday cars, 420bhp would be great, above that and prices rise a fair whack, Im sure a lower powered car could out pace a bigger BHP one round track if driven/setup right?.

430bhp wasn't enough for me actually... got pretty bored VERY quickly with it on track and wanted more and more power down the straights....
Having said that I talking big heavy 4x4 cars here, 400bhp in a RWD light car like Dingys would be more than enough I would imagine

300bhp for me was fine on track because I could actually make the car go round corners.
It's amazing how many "500bhp" cars you see at track days trhat pootle round the corners, and just nail it on the straights.
Having said that, last time out, I was bored shitless with the power

For ME i want at least 400bhp/ton
My Cossie was totaly stripped out (1050kg?) and running 2bar on T34 and greys, and could easily and often use all of its power on the road, and often wanted more. And that was with my car having APPALING grip, with more grip idve wanted a lot more, a lot more often.
IMO if you do it for the numbers game, your a fucking fool (many do tho, always at RRdays, but never use the car hard)
Every ones different, but 400bhp/ton is about right for me and how i drive, more providing the car could use it, traction wise.
Some people are happy with stage1 and reckon you cant use more on the road. Bollocks

enough power well imo if your into modding and speeds were you get ya rox off thiers never enough personally i like to be scared by the power then to tame it with driver skills or at least understand it but once youve understood it ie got to know the limits speeds cornering capabilities at whatever speed at that power you lose that adrenaline rush and thus the next stage of tune is born animals is were its at i think 1000 hp would be enough to keep the most hardcore adrenaline junkies happy like the reyland crew ect
PON- indeed, which is why i said how i drive, and where i drive, depends how and where you drive totaly
Cars mainly used is straightline drags on duel-carridgeways vs other cars, lol
If not that then sweepy A-roads
If i was in to B-roads id never buy a cossie or GTR (But TBH as most B-road corners are blind, you must have a death wish to tear round em as you cant see round the corner, well all of em round here, but this is the cotswolds, all bushes, trees, n hills)
Track is different again, but i dont do track days

I've been out with some drivers who can hammer B-roads at stupid speeds, and would anhialate ANYTHING on this bb.
Agree with you about A-road/Motorway driving, as that's where most people do their driing anyway.

i saw this sorta thing happening at Castle combe RS day.
there is a guy i half know, that claims a genuine 500bhp from
his 3dr........... i was dissapointed to see it on track
being passed by almost everyting....
Guess there aint any point in having the power unless you are
prepaired to use it! (or can use it)
the guy even said he was there to try and 'blow it up'
dont think he even saw above 5000 rpm from the sound of it.
