Default Rear disc brakes conversion brackets

I'm interested in this kit sold here: http://www.zetec-turbo.co.uk/ , but haven't gotten any response from them. Do they still sell this kit? Where else could I get good quality brackets?

Personally if you are going to get some rear brackets try and get some that mount the caliper at 12 o'clock, not only will you have an easier job bleeding them, but it wont be such a tight stretch on the handbrake cable either.

Also, my brackets are counter sunk, so you dont have to drill the hubs and change the bolt through the shock:

Also note the tight stretch on the handbrake cable with them in the current position.

Just found this pic that better shows the stretch on the cable. The other side wasn't so bad being the adjustable side.

I have a set or rear disc conversion brackets that have never been fitted. Bought them a while ago from R&B motorsport but never got round to fitting them...

http://www.randbmotorsport.co.uk/sho...p?ProductID=68

Will send them to you for Ł35

As you can see from the pic they are brand spankin new and come with the necessary bolts washers and spacers to fit 2WD Cossie discs and calipers.

Let me know if you want them

Moonie: how thick actually are they. Ive seen pictures of them before and NO offence but they look awfully thin, escpecially seeing as you can fit normal hex head bolts in

Mine theres about a half a mm gap!!!

What the thread size of the holes on the hub? I want to use flat head bolts so I don't have to drill them up.

I'm pretty sure its just M12 threads, don't quote me), its the same thread as any other 17mm bolt on the car

I presume you mean me? I didn't use them as axle stands, wouldn't dream of it. I had the car on the drive on the ramps so i could get underneath, ive got the car on the jack in that picture with the wheel off

Its got to be at least M10 as the bolt heads are 17mm, M8 have 13mm heads

With the zetec-turbo kit, the bolt supplied are M8. And with that kit the threads are drilled out.

Have you tried sending a PM to either RichM or Tony Pastie Rallyesport ?

As Daz says both are involved with the z-t kit.

I have them on mine I did drill out the holes - thats a simple job.

SafeChav

I guess you need to source another cable if the one you have is stretched to fit - I have plenty room on mine

The caliper position at 10 to 12

The RS2000 cable running underneath and round

NUTS RuS well this is the thing, i bought the MK5 RS2000 cable as you are meant to but it was a VERY snug fit indeed, where as i see people like you that looks like you could wrap it round the car twice and still have enough.....i also changed the metal braket that connects to the short front cable as the one on it was too wide, and this also bought me a little length.

Why is there such variances???

What thread size ?

You drill the hub so the bolt passes through and screws into the bracket.

You would never be able to attach it square if the two items were threaded

Unsure if that has clearence holes and nylock nuts on the back of the bolt , or the hub is left threaded and it just screws into it.

For competition purposes we would rather use high tensile cap head bolts - ie not like the countersunk ones above.

(Nothing wrong with them - its just a preference)

The hub is left threaded. If I knew the thread it would be easier buying bolts.

Even with the caliper mounted at 12 o'clock I need longer rear hoses? On the front hose the fitting that goes in the caliper is different than in the other end where the hose meets the pipe. On the stock rear hose there are two of these on both ends. I take it this won't fit in the caliper.

You will always need longer rear hoses. If you are on a budget you can get adapters to join 2 hoses together to overcome this problem. Not too sure what you mean about the front hoses though

Just go to a fastening house and buy the screws theres nothing special about them, just make sure the ones holding the caliper carriers on are high tensile.....
