posted in couple of other rooms with no answer but someone must know, i was led to believe the 1.9 american tall block was webbed, am i wrong or are there different types

well the one i got has a sort of lip at the top of block instead of going straight up if this makes sense and the oil return seems to go at a slant , does this sound right, oh and its wire rung, are these any good
The block is good!
But the rest of the internals are $hite! Depending on who built it!
Common uses are with 1800Cvh Rods and Crank
These blow and throw rods when N/A so Turbocharged you can imagine.
If you spend some $ on decent rods and pistons the short motor should produce great results with awesome Torque.

not sure what the rods are but it has accralite pistons, what do you recomend i should use, rod and piston wise, and will mfi cope with or should i go efi
its a waste with MFi as MFi is not enough for some 1600's let alone a 1900
It would be one of them engines that needs looking at and setting up every other week which is a pain and can cost alot of money if you have to pay for it to be checked. MFi is great if std and not molested with mods and extras.
As soon as you want more power or better drive and throttle reponse etc. EFi is needed.
If it has Accralites i can guess where it came from and what rods it has.
I would change them!

yeah it was bought from your way i belive, came from near chigwell and was in series 1 track car, what you recommend then and do you supply the the stuff, did the car it was in go ok or not really, he cracked a piston in it which is why he stripped and sold it

The below is only a guide and examples of prices off Ebay and for sale posts etc..
The best value for money way of going EFi is by using weber (Coworth) Management. The reason i say this and not FRST EFi for example is due to the amount that mapping costs. 1) Who will map FRST EEC4 2) How much! 3) Where in the country.
Weber can be mapped at every corner of the Uk and has some VERY good tuners to choose from. The cost for the map is around Ł100 - 200 Compare this when thinking of other systems.
Now the next issues is the parts costs.
FRST ECU Ł100 Chip (Off the shelf not even for your spec) Ł100
Cosworth Ł100 (Custom chip for your spec) Ł75
FRST LOOM Ł100
Cosworth Ł100
The sensors cost arpund the same for both systems. 3 bar map sensors on Ebay are Ł55 a FRST OFAC Map sensors is Ł45
Trigger items cost the same for both systems although with weber its costs a little extra due to the one extra sensor you will need. This is the cam sensor!..
So after all that the main differece between the two is the Thottle body which is bigger and better design on the cosworth and the extra cam sensor.
Both are just as easy to fit.

cheers mate and what internalls ie pistons and rods, not gonna run mega power, would like to see about 250 bhp, accralites any good for this or not and what rods
The pistons are fine. As long as they have a good amount left on the crown and have not been machined too much to get the correct C/R.
The rods is where it gets a little tricky.
I have a few ways of running VERY good rods but will need money spent on the crank for the rods to fit. (NOT an 1800 crank either
)
Then you will be held back by the head
Just save your money and build a ZT as the head dont cost anything and can flow 330bhp std. Just spend the money on the bottom end

jano oddkidd: so whats the difference in quality between a 1.6 cvh crank and a 1.8 cvh one???? didnt think one would be weaker than the other but you may know better, also the same with the rods are the 1.8 cvh rods any different to the 1.6 ones???

The rods, pistons, crank etc.. are different in many ways.
I have pictures of both next to each other on my site with technical info etc..
