Default Dump valve..

When driving my sapph cossie and come to letting of the throttle the dump valve should be all I hear. But it isn't!!!

I get half a dump valve and half chatter

I've checked that everything is connected correctly, but it doesn't sound like it should do?

Any ideas what it could be??????

if the dump valve is on the cold side (passenger side) then you wont get any chatter, but if its on the normal place on top of the cooler then you`ll get dump then chatter thats what ive got

It's between the cooler and the throttle.

Just wanted to know what people thought as you hear most cars have either dump vavles or chatter only? yet mine has a bit of both.

For piece of mind really.

I've noticed that too. Tough it's not so strange, the dv outlet has a diameter of 25mm? Ur intercooler is mostly 62mm? So you close the throttle, dv opens, but diameter is much smaller, thus creating pressure buildup, meanwhile there is no exhaustgas to propel the turbo. So your turbo will stall. Driving without a dv will obviously create even more lag.
A dv is nevertheless very usefull to minimise stalling
ofcourse ALS (antilagsystem) will sort stalling, but pretty expensive and won't last that long, so more rebuilds needed. But, gives some good bangs

i've heard about a guy who had 2 dv's installed, but i don't know if that really sorted the stalling

The chatter is already there, but the standard airbox dampens it. A nice cony item will let u hear much better. For max effect, a conefilter directly attached to your turbo

it doest matter what side its o, the reason you get half chatter and dump is the lift off pressure of the diaphram is not being reached so you get chatter (some are different to other and some are adjustable) and as soon as it is reached you get dump.

Whats the advantages / disadvantages of attaching the filter directly to the turbo?

the spring in the dump valve could also be quite strong, thus not opening until the throttle is completly close

i had this with one of my dump valves, the bailey one i had b4 that had a weaker spring and didnt do it

nothing wrong with it at all
