Default ntl + wireless setup

Need some help please folks!
Just got ntl broadband installed and want to go wireless as i dont want holes for the cabling everywhere.
Ntl dude told me to get a wireless router and usb reciever, which i duely did but according to the instructions i need to connect a ethernet cable from the router to my pc. this defeats what i wanted to achieve. is there anyway to set it up so i can have the reciever connected to my pc and the router and modem down by the ntl data point down stairs??

i have 1x ntl cable modem
1 x belkin wireless pre-n router
1 x belkin wireless g usb network adaptor

Do i have everything i need?

cheers
Phil

i have just installed my bt wireless router, and it says that it has to be installed using a wired connection and then can be set up for wireless.

so maybe try installing with ethernet/USB and then connecting wirelessly with your adaptor

HTH

Phil

Turn Modem and Router off.
Plug Ethernet cable from Router to PC and Turn router on.
May as well turn modem on so it picks up an IP address from NTL.
In a browser, browse to your router using IE or Firefox address is something like http://192.168.1.1 (will be in your manual)
Enable wireless (dont bother with security as yet)
save settings and turn router off.
plug the ethernet cable into your modem/STB then to the router and switch it on.
Wait for about 2 mins.
Make sure wireless in running on your PC/Laptop and try and connect to the internet using wireless.
If this works, you will then need to set the wireless security up.
