Do you not have to grind it down slightly then polish it the just keep buffing it up.

What on earth would you want to do that for, using a metal heatshield will raise underbonnet temps not lower them.

And your brake fluid res will melt and all the wiring around it.

Use the std ford one, I know its not shiney but it works.

Just my view matey

Well the thing is this:

At the moment I have a turbo heat shield made out of ally, and it just won't polish up anymore, so was thinking of getting it chrome plated instead?

I was also seriously considering getting some stuff like the std shield is made out of to put on the inside of it though actually!

The car has been fine for the past year with it on, but I do believe that the reason it will not polish up is because of the huge amounts of heat generated anyway

Think I'll do that

yes you can chrome plate ally, but.... alum conducts heat very well and in order to chrome plate ally they put a very light coating of copper onto it (which also conducts heat extreamley well) then the chromium goes ontop of that, so allthough it can be chromed due to the silly heats it wil reach im noy sure it would look pretty for very long
