anyone use a blueflame? whos does the best deal?

I have a blueflame and i'm well chuffed! Flange fitment is SO much better!

Maxest has also just ditched a mongoose in favour of a blueflame and i believe he can also get them at very good prices!

 

I sell them and.....they are Mongoose ones

 

Ditto, they are the people who used to make the Mongoose items.

 

Ive got 1, but i wouldn't recommend them tbh

I bought mine about January time so i dont know if things have changed since then....

When my exhaust arrived there was no clamp to fit it to the turbo, a minor problem and nothing a quick phone call wouldn't sort. 3 days later i had the clamp.

Once fitted the exhaust didn't protrude out of the bumper cutout far enough, the end of the tailpipe was actually inside the bumper cutout, because the exhaust fits together with flanges there was no way to 'stretch' the system slightly to make it longer, the only sliding joint is on the front pipe, i had to slide the exhaust back to get the tail piipe to come out of the bumper, I couldn’t slide it as far back as it needed though, because if I did it put all the mounting brackets out of line with each other also it meant there wasn't sufficient material from the front pipe inside the rest of the system and I wouldn’t be able to clamp it together.. you with me so far?

So, I had to leave the tail pipe flush with the rear bumper in order to get the thing to fit. Now this wasn’t ideal but I thought it would be ok until id worked out a way round it.

Anyway after the 1st drive I noticed the exhaust had started to melt the inside of the bumper slightly, nothing too serious and you couldn’t see it without getting under the car.

So I took it off again (the 5th time) and studied it for a while, After fookin about for an eternity it became obvious that the exhaust was bent wrong/too short!! So I machined an couple of ½” spacers to fit in between the flanges to make it a little longer, it now sits pretty much where it should, although I have noticed when viewed from the rear that the tailpipe tends to lift up when warm and settle back down again once cooled, I’m not sure if this has something to do with the stainless pipe & mild steel flanges heating up at different rates but it is very annoying and has melted the very top edge of my bumper cutout, so to sum up, you get what you pay for

I know there are people on here who have Blueflames fitted and they are obviously happy with them so lets not turn this into a slagging match, these are my experiences only

Not had a bad one yet,had various systems off them...

 

Heard nothing but good reports about Blueflame if u book the car in at least then if your not 100% happy u can say so before the car leaves there workshop

 

id do it myself silky,dont trust anyone to work on it

 

Mine was a graham goode item, had no fitting problems atall and was initially very pleased with it a few years ago.

since then tho,
the system is now on my second car, its had the cat cut out and the down pipe has been stretched and modified to suit the current turbo set up on the car.... but overal still no complaints with that one from myself.


a little shocked to hear about the blueflame systems tho as have only heard good reports until reading the post above!!

 

blue flame make alot of exhaust and like everythink not evert one can be produced perfectly!, i think what matters is the way they sort the issue after it has been reported to them

 

Mine fitted 1st time mint.
Maxest's was alittle more difficult, but they offfered to fit it for Free, which he did.

Both systems fit snug, and sound mint!

 

Yup as karl said, i had an issue with mine, so i trailored it down and they fitted it for free!

When i took it though, i'd left my rear bumper at home (40mls away!) so instead of having to go back, the lad that was fitting it, rang his mate- and they had one there in 10 mins!

Blueflame are highly recommended by me, the fit is better the previous mongoose, and i sounds much better too!

 

what was the "issue" max? ill call them tomorrow and see what price i can get

They also supply the stainless-steel spacers AFAIA, so speak to Nigel and get some off them .

 

My rearbumper gets melted to... whats to do??

Perfectly happy with my mild mannered magnex... well I will be once Ahmed modifies it to fit around the Group-A beam

 

phoned them today and they havent got any in stock and not making anymore for several weeks ,i need one asap, what other sytems are there apart from magnex,mongoose,scorpion and ggr?

Seriuosly thou didn't Power Engineering make exhausts at one point?

 

was thinking more of a peco special actually, power did use to make them didnt they anyone know if they still do?

 

I have one, its the bollox and was over £700 new

damo can you post up a pic of the power engineering system when you get chance please.

unfortunatly ive still got the standard exhaust, i'll be replacing mine when it starts to corrode but it looks brand new, i like the looks and subtlty of it, but unfortunatly the tyres make more noise than the exhaust, infact it sounds much like a vaccum cleaner.

 

Wasn't the Power Engineering just badged up Magnex thou?

 

if i was going for a sports system id have to have one with a sports CAT, i really couldnt be bothered to take the cat on and off every year

 

Nooooo tailpipe completely different, far more manly

Plus I "had" a sports cat beside the gearbox, this has been replaced with a new section though and the cat has been relegated to the shed

it split round the welds [pipe to silencer] its an easy repair but thought its a good excuse for a new one,while its all off,lol,managed to get hold of a b/flame and its like yours mine is all flanges though,no slip joints,it just sits flush with the bumper,ideally id want another inch,[wouldnt we all ] ill call them tomorrow and see if they do have any spacers like mike says,and ill do the same as you have,that should sort it

thanks for the offer but i rang them today and told them of problem,nige is going to send me some spacers out which should sort it,im also sending him some pics so he can sort the problem out on future ones
