Default OIL TO USE AND MOBILE ONE

Hi, just purchased a new RS and begining getting it ready so i am happy iwth it, also my first post on the PS for Forum. So hi Guys.

Boring post but an important one, for some reason i just purchased

Mobil One, 0W-40 Protection Formula, Fully Synthetic Motor Oil.

Im would like to keep the the oil golden for as long as i possibly could so frequent oil changes are no problems, but will this oil be ok to use. Or will it be too think, bit gutted if i cant use as was dear. But still cheaper than an engine rebuild

Thanks

i would have said probably too thin and you would need mobile motorsport 15/50 but may be wrong, see what the others say.

Oil that turns black means it is working as it should, as it removes the carbon it turns it black. No point trying to keep it golden unless you want to throw money away.

mines a bit tappy as well on startup. Doing a quick service will use mobile one for a while then change. I less thick oil should clean it up a little inside or something., lol.

HI mate. Oil is a massively complicated subject. I could give you some better advse if you tell me your driving style.

Don't worry - the 0 40 u have will do no damage to the engine I actually recommmend it for a car used daily in winter.

Basically though i dont rev over 4000 RPM often, as the car is hard to keep in a straight line.

230 BHP i think it is, 214 BHP is proven. So mostly i drive on the gears if u know what i mean change at less than 2000 RPM.

Put the 0/40 in today, and did a service.

im gonna move to silkolene pro also i think, after 3000 miles of mobil 1 0w/40. The thin oil should help clear any deposits left by the last owener.

It may have escaped a lot of peoples notice but it is actually Summer now,
putting 'standard' mobil one in this weather and driving it at all will
knock out the cam even faster than CVH's usually do, the turbo in particular won't be long for this world either.
As for rattly top ends with a 10w oil thickness, sounds as though you need a new cam. [/code]
